Chen Bing Taiji Academy USA 'Chen Village' Membership Agreement

1. Summary
a. CBTA USA membership is called Chen Village which provides the same practical methods and standard from the birth place of Taijiquan (Tai Chi), Chenjiagou.
b. Chen Village membership is not only an apprenticeship education program, but also a teacher training course for those who are willing to study all curriculum of CBTA USA in our step-by-step curriculum. This program is designed for future disciples, professional Tai Chi teachers and enthusiasts.
c. The Chen Village membership requires a contract with monthly auto pay.  There is a 3-month, 6-month and 12-month contract to choose.

2. Eligibility
a. For those who are willing to become a successor and certified teacher of Chen Bing Taiji Academy USA.
b. For those who are willing to deepen their practice of classical Chen Family Taijiquan in step-by-step manner.
c. For those who are willing to teach as a volunteer teacher at ‘Chen Village Tai Chi’ non-profit organization for kids and seniors when the program is launched in the future.
d. For those who can practice a memorized system individually.  For example, a student should be able to memorize Level 1.1 Relaxation (Fang Song).

3. Benefit
a. Basically, it is a private lesson taught by Master Bosco Baek directly. One will be taught individually with one-on-one guidance that provides a detailed lecture, demonstration and hands-on corrections as taught in the birthplace of Taijiquan, Chen Village (Chenjiagou).
b. Early access to Master Chen Bing’s workshop and other related activities at CBTA USA.

4. Tuition & Contract Term
a. The membership is paid in advance of service on your first purchase date of each month. (ex: every 15th)
b. Membership dues are paid by monthly automatic electronic payment (credit card and debit card only).
c. 3-month contract: $2,250 ($750 per month):

d. 6-month contract: $3,300 ($550 per month):

e. 12-month contract: $4,200 ($350 per month):

* Note: Per 2 years. this tuition rate will be increased 3.5 %. 

5. Cancellation
a. Membership cancellation fee is $840 if the membership is cancelled before the maturity date. No exceptions are allowed once cancelled.
b. Memberships that are 30 days past due will be cancelled. Reinstatement requires payment of dues owed, reinstatement fee of $199 and payment of first month of new membership.
c. Written notice of 30 days notice, via email, must be given to assure cancellation of term memberships. No partial months.

6. Late payment
a. Declined credit or debit card fees – Any declined credit card/debit card will result in a fee of $45. Membership fees must be paid on or before the first day of the month.

7. Schedule
a. Monday , Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 5:30 PM – 9:30 PM and Saturday from 9 AM – 2 PM with one’s time preference which means one will be taught organically upon one’s arrival.
b. Thusday 7 PM will have a special lecture from Master Bosco Baek and Saturday 12 PM – 2 PM will have push-hands, grappling and application.

8. Curriculum
a. Each level of Tai Chi will be taught accordingly based on our systemized curriculum.
b. Any advanced Tai Chi topics will not be taught unless one finished a prerequisite topic. For example, Old Frame First Road will be taught if a student finished Harmony 13 Form and Essence Cannon Fist 17 Form.
c. All members should know the entire curriculum to follow;

Level 3.1 - Intermediate Stepping, Intermediate Reeling Silk
Level 3.2 - Intermediate Explosive Power
Level 3.3 - Old Frame First Road
Level 3.4 - Old Frame Second Road

Intermediate Level 4 Tai Chi Course
Level 4.1 – Single Broadsword
Level 4.2 – Single Straight Sword

*Note: Fan is an auxiliary topic to study in Intermediate Level 4.

9. Smoking, Alcohol, Food and Drink
a. No smoking is allowed in any part of the facility. Food or drink may be taken into the facilities if it is in a non-breakable, enclosed container.
b. No alcohol is permitted anywhere on the premises.

10. Conduct
a. CBTA USA is committed to the health, safety, and welfare of each of its members and staff. CBTA USA will not tolerate unreasonable, threatening, obscene, harassing, indecent, or illegal behavior.
b. CBTA USA has the right to judge behavior and respond accordingly. This right includes, but is not limited to, termination of membership without refund of any member engaging in unacceptable behavior.

11. Damages
a. Members shall pay for any damages to CBTA USA’s property which results from the willful or negligent conduct of member, member’s guest or dependent children.

12. Hands-on corrections/or sexual harassment
a. All members MUST know that classical Taijiquan (Tai Chi) requires hands-on corrections from a qualified teacher in order to circulate and cultivate energy powerfully without having deviations in the body both internally and externally.
b. All members MUST know this type of hands-on corrections is a classical standard from Chenjiagou where Tai Chi was created and it is absolutely NOT related to sexual harassment
c. All members MUST have the electronically signed waiver when registering the CBTA USA management system provided by Mind Body software company.

13. Rules and/or Regulations
a. Members who do not observe CBTA USA rules and regulations or who abuse equipment in any fashion will be asked to leave.
b. The management reserves the right to terminate membership of anyone who refuses to observe any of CBTA USA rules or regulations.
c. Not all rules and regulations are listed in this agreement.
d. CBTA USA reserves the right to add, change or remove rules, conditions of membership, opening and closing hours, and all services and facilities offered by CBTA USA.

14. Miscellaneous
a. This Agreement contains the entire agreement between the parties, and supersedes any prior written or oral agreements between them concerning the subject matter of this Agreement. The provisions of this may be waived, altered, amended or repealed, in whole or in part, only upon prior written consent of all parties
b. Member has read, and fully agrees to the term of this Agreement and understands and agrees that by signing this Agreement (which contains a waiver, release and assumption of risks) Member has given up considerable future legal rights. Member has signed this Agreement freely, voluntarily, under no duress or threat of duress, without inducement, promise or guarantee being communicated to him/her. Member certifies and warrants that he/she is 18 years of age or older and mentally competent to enter into this Agreement.
c. CBTA USA does not offer any program for minors who are under 18 years of age.
d. Tuition may change in the future.
e. If any portion of this agreement is deemed illegal, void or unenforceable, then the remaining agreement shall remain in effect.

15. Waiver and Release

I, individually and on behalf of my heirs, successors, assigns and facilities, do hereby fully release and forever discharge Chen Bing Taiji Academy USA, certified teachers, teacher trainees, their officials, agents and volunteers from any and all claims for injuries, death, damages or loss including transportation services when/if provided, that I may have or which may accrue to me and arising out of, connected with, or in any way associated with participating in any and all classes at Chen Bing Taiji Academy USA 

16. Legal Signature

a. I fully agree to become a Chen Village member of CBTA USA by signing below and witness my e-signature as of the day and date first stated above.

b. I have also received approval to participate in any and all classes from a physician by signing below.
