Beginner Program - Tai Chi for Cancer
Chen Bing Taiji Academy USA's beginner class is called 'Tai Chi for Cancer' program that is a US trademark created by Master Bosco Baek who is the 'Intangible Culture Tai Chi Successor' awarded by Chen Village where Tai Chi was created.
Though this beginner class is mainly aimed for cancer patients and survivors, it provides the most effective practicum for beginners who are willing to get great health benefits from Tai Chi in a short period of time.
Although this is a shortened version of classical Chen Family Taijiquan, this practicum retains the core fundamentals, without any dilution, and it delivers the best effects of Taijiquan.
This beginner 'Tai Chi for Cancer' is a donation based class run by Chen Village Tai Chi which is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (www.ChenVillage.org)
We provide study aids for all participants for free of charge by donations.
Please note that each quarter is an incremental 11-week series with a specific topic from a first day of class.
TCC 101: Relaxation Type A (Fang Song)
Description of 101 Relaxation Type A: Relaxation (Fang Song) practice is the four essential exercises originated from Old Frame which is the mother form of Tai Chi from which all existing Tai Chi styles ultimately derived. It helps lessen body pains, correct spinal misalignment, find a core ‘elixir field’ breathing and rest the mind. Without this practice, Tai Chi would be meaningless slow motions because Tai Chi is an internal practice.
TCC 102: Reeling Silk & Explosive Power (Chan Si Gong & Fajin)
Prerequisite: TCC 101 Relaxation Type A
Description of 102 Reeling Silk and Explosive Power: A Tai Chi practitioner enables exercising the whole body from Dantian with spiraling movements in joint by joint. In this way, the entire body is being initiated to move as one unit organically. Any blockages in meridians would be powerfully pierced out due to its coiling exercises. It is considered the best energy cultivation and circulation practice from the negative. After saving full of energy, fastness and hardness from the positive must be practiced. Tai Chi strives to have a true balance of yin and yang (the negative and positive). If one practices slowness only, it is just a half of Tai Chi because the positive characteristics that are fastness and hardness are missing. Please remember that the essence of Tai Chi cannot be captured if one only practices slowness and softness.
TCC 103: Oldest Five (Zui Gu Lao Shi), Old Frame 8 A&B and Old Frame Eleven
Prerequisite: TCC 102 Reeling Silk & Explosive Power
Description of 103 Oldest Five: There are the oldest five movements that the Tai Chi creator Chen Wangting created about four centuries ago. The oldest and original five movements are the simplest, yet the best method to decode long forms based on 25 secrets of Tai Chi.
Old Frame 8 A&B and Old Frame Eleven: These forms are derived from Old Frame First Road (Laojia Yilu) and summarized for beginners.
