[A Foundation for Lifelong Tai Chi Practice]
The Public Membership is the entry point into Chen Family Taijiquan at Chen Bing Taiji Academy USA.
Rooted in the traditions of Chenjiagou—the birthplace of Tai Chi—this membership combines structured public classes with supervised Open Practice Hours, creating a practical and sustainable path for modern practitioners.
Training is based on the Academy’s Tai Chi 100 Series curriculum, including foundational methods such as Fang Song, Reeling Silk, and Basic 13 Form. These practices help students develop relaxation, balance, body awareness, coordination, and internal connection while building a strong foundation for future study.
Whether your goal is health, stress reduction, longevity, personal growth, or deeper martial arts training, the Public Membership provides a supportive environment for long-term development.
As the first stage of the CBTA USA Pathway, students who demonstrate commitment, consistency, and accumulated training hours may become eligible to advance into Trademarked Membership and, eventually, Academy Membership.
[What Is the Public Membership?]
The Public Membership at Chen Bing Taiji Academy USA is designed for individuals who wish to make Tai Chi a natural and sustainable part of their daily lives.
Rather than functioning solely as a traditional class, this membership provides access to dedicated Open Practice Hours, where students practice independently within a supportive and focused environment. During these hours, a certified CBTA USA instructor or senior disciple is available to provide guidance, corrections, and direction when needed—while allowing each member the space to develop at their own pace.
This format helps students gradually build confidence in self-practice, deepen their understanding of what they have learned in class, and develop the ability to continue practicing beyond scheduled lessons.
In simple terms: you are not left alone, but you are not being led step by step either.
[Who Is This Membership For?]
Public Membership is ideal for individuals seeking a consistent and sustainable Tai Chi practice, whether they are beginning their journey or continuing their development within the CBTA curriculum.
This membership is especially valuable for those who wish to:
• Reinforce what they have learned through regular repetition
• Explore movements more deeply and at their own rhythm
• Build internal strength and body–mind awareness
• Establish a consistent Tai Chi routine outside of class
• Develop greater independence in their personal practice
• Prepare for deeper study within the Chen Family system
This membership is not a drop-in class.
It is best suited for students who are ready to practice consistently and take a more active role in their own cultivation.
[Why a 3-Month Minimum?]
Public Membership is available in 3-, 6-, or 12-month options only. Monthly memberships are intentionally not offered.
Developing a steady self-practice takes time. Most students need several weeks simply to find their rhythm, and often several months before experiencing the deeper benefits of regular training.
A minimum commitment helps create continuity, focus, and meaningful progress—rather than a stop-and-go experience.
