Public Program: The Essence of Chen Family Tai Chi

A program that values diversity and inclusivity, embracing individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.

[About the Public Program]

The Public Program at Chen Bing Taiji Academy USA offers foundational Tai Chi training directly from its birthplace, Chenjiagou. Designed to meet modern lifestyles, this program ensures accessibility, adaptability, and a nurturing environment for both beginners and returning practitioners.

Classes are taught based on the Tai Chi 100 Series, a rotating curriculum that addresses therapeutic, technical, and internal development needs. Whether you're exploring Tai Chi for health, meditation, or martial refinement, this program is your gateway to the original art.

[Tai Chi 100 Series Curriculum Overview]

Tai Chi 100: Fang Song
The must-learn entry point into our system. Rooted in relaxation (放松), this class heals the body through eight internal methods to loosen tension and reconnect breath, mind, and movement. It serves as the foundation for all further study at CBTA USA.

Tai Chi 101: Stepping, Reeling Silk & Explosive Power
A foundational skill-building class covering:

  • Coordinated stepping & transitions
  • Spiral energy movements (纏絲勁, chán sī jìn)
  • Explosive power (發勁, fā jìn)

Together, these three disciplines unlock inner strength, martial control, and Chen-style body mechanics.

Tai Chi 102: Form Prep – Diamond Pounds Mortar (金刚捣碓 Jīn Gāng Dǎo Duì)
Practice the three core variations:

  1. Backward Stepping
  2. Leg Reeling
  3. Original Form

This set connects every movement in classical Taijiquan into a seamless, flowing rhythm as passed down from Chen Village.

Tai Chi 103: Tai Chi for Longevity – Blue Dragon 8 Form
Adapted from the Chen Family Old Frame First Road, this form strengthens the body, regulates breath, and sharpens awareness in eight dynamic, symmetrical movements ideal for confined spaces and continued repetition.
